78th Annual Pet & Doll Parade
“Pirates on Parade”
There’s Still Time to Register
The 78th Annual Pet and Doll Parade will be Thursday, July 26. The parade begins at 7:00 p.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “Pirates on Parade”. Divisions include: 1) Pet, 2) Circus, 3) Occupational, 4) Doll, 5) Sports, 6) Cartoon, 7) Characterization, and 8) Frontier, with several categories in each division. A special thanks to Uptown Optimists who are sponsoring the Pet & Doll Parade.
Register at the Park and Recreation Office, at 1700 River Drive North, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Registration forms are also available at the Electric City Water Park, Natatorium, Jaycee and Water Tower swimming pools, and the Community Recreation Center. Each child will be given a tag to be worn on the day of the parade when registering. Participation is free.
Late registration will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. the day of the parade, Thursday, July 26, in front of the Civic Center.
Judging will begin at 6:15 p.m. in front of the Civic Center. Originality of costume is the top criteria of judging (above purchased or rented costumes). The parade will follow at 7:00 p.m.
Each child receives a participation ribbon, and each category in each division will be awarded a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbon, plus special prizes.
An area for child pick up will be designated for each division when the parade breaks at 8th Street. Parents need to pick up their children immediately following the conclusion of the Parade.

Some City Pools Closing Early Thursday for Pet & Doll Parade
The Natatorium, Jaycee and Water Tower Pools will close at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26th, allowing staff to assist in the 78th Annual Pet & Doll Parade scheduled for that evening.
