NHAs are a grassroots, community-driven approach to heritage conservation and economic development.

    The Park and Recreation Aquatics Division has a new water toy that’s sure to entertain kids of all ages – the "Wibit". Two special events have been scheduled to introduce this innovative system that transforms an ordinary pool into a water adventure. An aquatics obstacle course, the Wibit features all forms of water play and its interlocking pieces can be put together in a variety of combinations, creating a new adventure every time.

    The unusually warm and dry winter has created higher use at the Pacific Steel & Recycling Trailside Dog Park this year. While the mild winter has been good for humans and their canine companions, it has caused considerable turf damage at the park. Starting Wednesday, May 6, the dog park will be closed to the public for approximately three weeks turf repair.

    In recognition of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, on Thursday, April 30, shelter pets (both dogs and cats) that are 6 months and older can be adopted for $10 plus a donation. Pets that are adopted will leave the shelter spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), microchipped and with a nametag.

    The 36th Annual Ice Breaker Road Race will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015.  Join close to 4,000 runners, joggers and fitness walkers who enter the race each year.  The five-mile road race offers a competitive format and the three-mile run offers both a competitive and recreational format.
